How does spiritual knowledge become a force for change? “From Shruti to Shakti” explores this question through the Veda, Sri Aurobindo’s interpretation and The Mother’s work.

The sessions examine the Vedic goddesses, the growth of consciousness and the place of spiritual practice in everyday life.

Living Veda™ is a conference series devoted to the application of the Veda in the light of Sri Aurobindo. It brings textual scholarship into conversation with the experience of teachers, researchers and practitioners.

Each edition takes up a particular theme, creating space to examine interpretations, share work and consider how Vedic knowledge can inform contemporary life.

The Mother

At the heart of this edition’s theme, The Mother is Shakti: the Divine Consciousness whose action transforms mind, life and body. In Puducherry, she worked with Sri Aurobindo towards supramental transformation, giving lived force to the movement from Shruti to Shakti.

Sri Aurobindo

Yogi, poet, philosopher and nationalist, Sri Aurobindo evolved Integral Yoga: a path in which spiritual realisation is brought into life itself. His writings on the Veda opened a modern approach to its psychological and spiritual meaning.
